The V-3/300 high pressure air compressor is a reciprocating piston unit designed for industrial processes requiring compressed air at 30 MPa(G). It takes atmospheric air at ambient temperature and delivers a flow rate of 180 m³/h (3 m³/min) through three compression stages, driven by a 75 kW electric motor. The machine is primarily deployed for pipeline pressure testing, vessel hydro-pneumatic testing, high-pressure cylinder filling, and aerospace ground support operations. Each unit is engineered to order, with adjustable flow rates, discharge pressures, cooling configurations, and installation formats to match specific project conditions.

The compressor operates on a V-type cylinder arrangement with water cooling and oil-lubricated crankcase. A double middle-body structure separates the crankcase from the compression cylinders to contain lubricating oil and prevent carryover into the gas stream. Cylinders and cylinder heads are manufactured from cast iron or forged steel, selected according to the pressure rating of each stage. The complete assembly is mounted on a skid frame with integrated interstage coolers, a final cooler, separators, and a control panel, reducing on-site installation work to piping and power connections.

Compression Stage Configuration

The V-3/300 uses a 2-row, 3-stage compression layout. Atmospheric air enters the first-stage cylinder, is compressed to an intermediate pressure, then passes through an interstage cooler and separator before entering the second stage. A third stage brings the gas to the final discharge pressure of 30 MPa(G). Each stage is fitted with axial-type suction and discharge valves designed for high-frequency operation and low pressure drop. The piston rod is protected by a threaded sleeve (patent ZL 2017 2 1907021.7), and piston rings are supported by a dedicated device (patent ZL 2018 2 0294776.2) to extend service intervals.

Cooling and Lubrication System

Cooling is provided by a closed-circuit water system with shell-and-tube interstage and aftercoolers. Cooling water inlet temperature is typically ≤32°C, with a recommended flow rate specified in the project datasheet. The crankcase uses forced-feed lubrication with a gear-type oil pump and a full-flow filter. Cylinder lubrication, where specified, is delivered by a multi-point lubricator. The double middle-body includes a vented chamber to drain any oil migration, supporting clean gas delivery.

Safety and Protection Systems

The compressor is equipped with safety valves on each interstage separator and the final discharge vessel, each set to the maximum allowable working pressure of the corresponding stage. A pressure switch triggers an automatic shutdown if discharge pressure exceeds the setpoint. Additional protection includes low cooling-water flow, high discharge temperature, low oil pressure, and overload protection via the motor control center. The control panel provides local indication of stage pressures, temperatures, and operating status.
