Overview

The DWF-4.1/(18~25)-45 Natural Gas Compressor, tailored for natural gas compression scenarios, is a high-reliability reciprocating piston compressor. It is developed to stably boost the pressure of natural gas within a specific range, serving as critical equipment in industrial gas processing systems. It ensures the efficient transportation and utilization of natural gas, meeting the operational demands of medium-to-high pressure gas processing processes.

Key performance indicators demonstrate its adaptability to industrial operations: it achieves a nominal volumetric flow rate of 4.1m³/min, with an actual natural gas handling capacity ranging from 95,000 to 135,000 Nm³/h. It operates within an inlet pressure range of 1.8~2.5MPa(G) at normal temperature and delivers an exhaust pressure of 4.5MPa(G). Driven by a 200kW main motor with a rated speed of 740r/min, it features a compact integrated skid-mounted design with overall dimensions of approximately 6200×2900×2300mm and a total weight of around 14 tons. This design allows for convenient on-site installation and integration into existing gas processing systems, while its robust structure ensures stable operation even under continuous working conditions.

Features

Structural Design

Engineered as a D-type (symmetrically balanced), forced air-cooled, oil-free lubrication reciprocating piston compressor, the DWF-4.1/(18~25)-45 adopts a single-stage compression, two-cylinder configuration and is supplied as an integrated skid-mounted unit. Key components are selected for durability and stable performance:

  • Cylinders & Cylinder Heads: Both cylinders and cylinder heads are made of ductile iron, with an oil-free lubrication design for the cylinder and packing. This prevents oil contamination of the natural gas medium and meets the purity requirements of gas processing processes.

  • Packing & Piston Components: The packing uses special PTFE-filled materials, and the piston (made of 45 steel) is equipped with wear-resistant piston rings and guide rings. These components effectively enhance the compressor's sealing performance and extend the service life of vulnerable parts (with a minimum service life of 6000 hours for piston rings, guide rings, and packing).

  • Crankshaft & Connecting Rod: The crankshaft is forged from high-quality carbon steel, with crankpins subjected to induction hardening to improve wear resistance; the connecting rod is made of 40Cr forged steel. This ensures reliable power transmission during long-term operation, with the crankshaft, connecting rod, and other core components having a minimum service life of 30,000 hours.

Performance Advantages

  • Stable Operation & High Safety: The forced air-cooling system (equipped with air-cooled coolers and axial fans) efficiently controls the exhaust temperature (≤125℃), and the pressure lubrication system (for the crankshaft, connecting rod, and crosshead) ensures adequate lubrication of moving parts. An explosion-proof PLC control cabinet (with Siemens S7-1200 PLC and a 7-inch Weinview touch screen) enables real-time monitoring of operating parameters (such as inlet/outlet pressure, oil pressure, and exhaust temperature). It also provides automatic alarm and shutdown protection in case of faults (e.g., motor overload, low oil pressure, and high exhaust temperature), meeting the safety requirements of explosive environments (with the main motor having an explosion-proof grade of ExdIIBT4).

  • Easy Installation & Maintenance: The integrated skid-mounted base provides sufficient strength and rigidity, simplifying on-site installation (requiring only foundation construction and secondary grouting); the inclusion of a manual turning device and a complete set of random vulnerable parts (such as connecting rod bearings, piston rings, and valve plates) and dedicated tools facilitates daily maintenance and reduces equipment downtime.

  • Strong Environmental Adaptability: Designed to adapt to complex industrial site conditions (operating within an ambient temperature range of -20℃~+45℃), the compressor is equipped with oil circuit insulation and electric tracing measures, as well as an auxiliary oil heater (activated when the oil temperature is below 5℃). These features ensure stable operation under temperature fluctuations and low-temperature environments, guaranteeing the continuous supply of natural gas for industrial processes.

Whole Machine Description

The compressor adopts a D-type (symmetrically balanced), forced air-cooled, oil-free lubrication, reciprocating piston structure, with single-stage compression and two-cylinder configuration, and the entire unit is supplied in an integrated skid-mounted manner. It is fixed on-site with a foundation, ensuring stable operation even under continuous working conditions, and is suitable for medium-to-high pressure natural gas compression scenarios.

The compressor crankcase is made of HT250 gray cast iron, adopting a split structure of the machine body and the middle body. The lower part of the crankcase functions as an oil storage chamber to hold lubricating oil and is equipped with a coarse oil filter component for preliminary filtration of the lubricating oil, preventing impurities from entering the lubrication system and affecting the service life of moving parts. The side cover plate of the crankcase is provided with an oil measuring rod for real-time checking of the lubricating oil level and an oil filling port for convenient addition of lubricating oil. Additionally, the crankcase is designed with functional interfaces such as an oil drain port (equipped with a shut-off valve for regular discharge of waste oil and maintenance of the lubrication system), an oil temperature detection port (for connecting temperature sensors to monitor oil temperature), and a bearing lubrication oil passage interface (to ensure accurate delivery of lubricating oil to bearing components).

The compressor middle body is made of HT250 gray cast iron and adopts a double-middle body structure. The internal space of the middle body is designed to be larger than one stroke of the piston, which can effectively block the lubricating oil in the crankcase from flowing into the cylinder. This design strictly prevents lubricating oil from contaminating the natural gas medium, ensuring the purity of the compressed gas and meeting the quality requirements of subsequent gas processing or transportation processes. The compressor cylinder is made of ductile iron and adopts an oil-free lubrication design, eliminating the need for oil injection lubrication during operation—this not only reduces the daily maintenance workload but also fundamentally avoids medium pollution caused by oil leakage. The cylinder head is also made of ductile iron, and the air valves are arranged axially on the cylinder head. This layout optimizes the internal gas flow path of the cylinder, minimizes gas flow resistance, and further improves the compression efficiency of the unit while reducing energy consumption during operation.

The compressor is equipped with a dedicated manual turning device, which facilitates personnel to manually rotate the crankshaft before startup or during maintenance. This helps check for jamming or abnormal resistance of moving parts, ensuring safe startup and maintenance of the unit. The transmission between the compressor and the main motor adopts a tire coupling for direct connection—this coupling has good shock absorption and buffering performance, which can reduce the impact of motor startup on the compressor and ensure stable power transmission. Meanwhile, the coupling is equipped with a fully enclosed, spark-free protective cover to prevent potential safety hazards caused by the exposure of rotating components and meet the safety requirements of explosive environments.

FAQ

What gas can the DWF-4.1/(18~25)-45 natural gas compressor handle?

It is specifically designed for natural gas (as clearly specified in the "Technical Agreement 7.29.doc" that the compression medium of the compressor is natural gas). It is not suitable for compressing other gases such as hydrogen, oxygen, or special industrial gases. If there is a demand for compressing other gases, it is recommended to consult the supplier for customized gas compressor solutions to ensure safe and efficient operation.

How often does the DWF-4.1/(18~25)-45 natural gas compressor require maintenance?

Due to its reasonable structural design and high-quality component selection (such as wear-resistant piston rings, guide rings made of special PTFE-filled materials, and 42CrMo piston rods with surface hardening treatment), routine maintenance is required in accordance with the following rules:

  1. The first oil change should be conducted after the compressor has been in operation for 200 hours, along with cleaning of the coarse oil filter and crankcase.

  2. For regular maintenance, the lubricating oil needs to be replaced twice a year (swapped once in winter and once in summer, using L-DAB150 mechanical lubricating oil when the ambient temperature is above 5℃ and L-DAB100 when below 5℃).

  3. Routine inspections (including checking the condition of oil filters, inspecting the sealing performance of packing and piston rings, and testing the performance of safety valves and pressure/temperature transmitters) are generally recommended every 3,000-4,000 operating hours.
In addition, key vulnerable parts (such as piston rings, guide rings, packing, and valve plates) have a service life of no less than 6,000 hours, and the oil-free lubrication design for cylinders and packing avoids frequent lubricant replacement for these parts, further reducing overall maintenance frequency.

Does the DWF-4.1/(18~25)-45 natural gas compressor comply with relevant technical standards?

Yes, the compressor fully complies with a series of national, industrial, and international technical standards specified in the "Technical Agreement 7.29.doc". For example:

  1.
