Overview

The DW Hydrogen Piston Compressor is a high-efficiency, heavy-duty reciprocating compressor designed specifically for high-pressure hydrogen compression applications. Manufactured by United Compressor Manufacturing Company, this unit is engineered to meet the stringent safety, reliability, and performance requirements of hydrogen energy, chemical processing, and industrial gas systems.

With a rated flow capacity of 1.8 m³/min, the compressor operates at an inlet pressure of 1.5 MPa.G and delivers hydrogen up to an exhaust pressure of 3 MPa.G, making it suitable for hydrogen storage, transmission, and downstream utilization. The system is driven by a 280 kW main motor, ensuring stable and continuous operation under demanding working conditions.

The gas compressor package features a compact footprint of approximately 4500 × 2800 × 1950 mm and a total weight of around 16 tons, allowing flexible installation in industrial plants, hydrogen stations, and modular skid systems.

Compressor Structure Description

The compressor adopts a D-type (symmetrical balanced) structure with multi-stage, water-cooled, reciprocating piston compression.

  • Crankcase: Made of high-strength gray cast iron with integrated lubrication oil reservoir and multiple inspection and maintenance ports

  • Middle body: Double middle body design prevents lubricating oil from entering the hydrogen cylinder, ensuring zero oil contamination

  • Cylinder: Manufactured from gray cast iron or forged steel, featuring an oil-free design

  • Cylinder head: Axial valve arrangement for efficient gas flow and reduced pressure loss

The upward and downward arrangement of suction and discharge ports effectively prevents liquid accumulation and eliminates the risk of liquid hammer.
