The MW-13.3/(0-0.07)-50 BOG reciprocating gas compressor is a four-stage reciprocating piston compressor designed for the recovery and pressurization of low-pressure boil-off gas (BOG).
The compressor is configured with an M-type, four-column, opposed-balanced structure. The gas cylinders and packing are designed for oil-free operation, while the crankshaft, connecting rods and crossheads use oil lubrication.
The compression system combines multi-stage compression, interstage cooling and gas-water separation. Nitrogen-assisted packing sealing is used to help control gas leakage around the piston rod. The compressor system also incorporates safety valves, an outlet check valve and a pneumatic recycle control valve for controlled operation.
The specified process gas is primarily composed of nitrogen and methane, with a small amount of ethane. Under the project design conditions, the compressor handles BOG from a low-pressure inlet condition and progressively compresses the gas through four stages.
This BOG compressor is suitable for applications involving LNG facilities, natural gas systems, gas storage and transfer, petrochemical projects and other industrial gas compression processes.
The four-stage compression configuration progressively increases gas pressure through multiple compression stages. Interstage cooling and separation are incorporated into the compression process to manage gas temperature and remove condensed liquid.
The M-type, four-column, opposed-balanced configuration is designed for balanced reciprocating operation and is suitable for industrial gas compression applications.
The gas cylinders and packing are designed for oil-free operation, helping prevent lubricating oil from entering the process gas. The crankshaft, connecting rods and crossheads are separately lubricated with oil.
Water cooling is used for the compressor and process gas system. Interstage cooling helps control gas temperature during multi-stage compression.
Gas-water separators are incorporated into the system to separate condensed liquid from the gas stream. The separators are equipped with level monitoring and drainage functions.
The packing sealing system uses nitrogen as an auxiliary sealing medium to help reduce process-gas leakage around the piston rod.
The BOG compression process follows a multi-stage reciprocating compression route:
BOG Inlet → 1st Stage Compression → Interstage Cooling & Separation → 2nd Stage Compression → Interstage Cooling & Separation → 3rd Stage Compression → Interstage Cooling & Separation → 4th Stage Compression → Final Cooling → High-Pressure Gas Outlet
The gas is progressively compressed through each stage. After compression, the gas passes through cooling and separation equipment before entering the next stage.
This configuration allows the pressure increase to be distributed across multiple stages while providing temperature control and condensate removal during the compression process.
BOG is generated during LNG storage and handling. A BOG reciprocating compressor can be integrated into the process system to recover and pressurize low-pressure boil-off gas.
The compressor can be used in LNG storage and transfer systems where boil-off gas needs to be recovered, compressed and transferred.
Reciprocating gas compressors can be configured for natural gas compression processes requiring controlled multi-stage pressure increases.
The compressor can be integrated into gas storage and transfer systems according to the required gas flow and pressure conditions.
The compressor can be engineered for specific gas compression duties in petrochemical and industrial gas projects.
What is a BOG reciprocating gas compressor?
A BOG reciprocating gas compressor is a piston-type compressor designed to recover and pressurize boil-off gas generated in LNG and related gas systems.
Why does a BOG compressor use multiple compression stages?
Multiple compression stages allow the gas pressure to be increased progressively, with cooling and separation arranged between stages.
Is the BOG compressor completely oil-free?
The gas cylinders and packing are designed for oil-free operation, while the crankshaft, connecting rods and crossheads use oil lubrication.
What information is required to select a BOG compressor?
The main information includes gas composition, flow rate, inlet pressure, discharge pressure, gas temperature, operating hours, cooling conditions, lubrication requirements and installation environment.
Can the BOG compressor be customized?
Yes. The compressor configuration can be developed according to the customer's actual process conditions and project requirements.
